Southern Indiana Technical Institute
Southern Indiana Technical Institute (SITI) is a regional community college located in Aragon, Indiana. Prior to the Event it served 5,500 undergraduate students. Its campus in the southeast of the city is composed for two large mixed-use buildings (instruction, administration, labs, etc.), a library and a large parking lot. SITI’s campus also houses the Teller County morgue and crime lab, which additionally serve as instructional facilities for the college’s mortuary science and forensics programs. Following the Event a number of students and faculty converged on the campus hoping to find it a safe structure in which to make a stand. The larger of the two primary buildings is occupied by a survivor group of around 30. This included a detachment of National Guard troops who opted to remain there protecting this group but have subsequently withdrawn to Cochran Air Force Base.
SITI was formerly known as Indiana Institute of Technology and is still referred to mock-affectionately as iit.
