Dead Letter Office
United States Post Office - Aragon, IN
The US Post Office in Aragon, Indiana, is a once-proud civic structure in brick and limestone, built in 1940 as the local post office and regional distribution center for the rapidly developing area. Since that time, like the local economy, the building has suffered neglect and disrepair. Ten years ago, services were downsized and operations moved to a smaller mail center. When the zombies came, however, the post office’s still-strong structure and high stone walls quickly proved a valuable asset to survivors. Along with the adjacent police station and a community recreation center, a small community has called the post office home for the past few months, fortifying the area with barricades and sending out search parties to gather supplies and rescue other survivors.
